DESCRIPTION:
Before year 1970, Italian regions have been living due to the geographical division of the territory. Later the Italian Charter recognized these forms of independent organizations, that can issue rules and laws acknowledged by the Government. Lombardy Region stands out for population (10 million of inhabitants), number of province (12) and municipalities (1531), but firstly thanks to its economic strength that makes it a privileged reality with international markets. Industrialization is not the only priority, as a matter of fact the Institution works hardly for the artistic and environmental safeguard: it has been the first region to issue the laws in favor of the territory’s protection. Its provinces preserve a cultural heritage made of medieval signs as well as of the Renaissance that give fame to the Region all over the world.
