DESCRIPTION:
The first UN Assembly, in 1946, introduced the idea of an agency dedicated to childhood. Due to the havoc left by Second World War, it was necessary create the essential services for children: food, education and health care. Also Italy benefited from humanitarian action of Unicef and in 1946, the Italian Committee was created; ever since that year, it has been developing programs to defend children all over the world. In 1989, when UN Assembly had approved the Convention on the Rights of the Child, the provincial committee UNICEF was born in Mantua as well. Since then, the local committee has contributed to gather funds in favor of humanitarian activities of national UNICEF as well working to spread the culture of children’s rights in its area.
